An informed consumer will always check out the many places to jump. What you don't know is that several of the skydiving sites are owned by the same company. Furthermore, many are just middle men for the real facilities! This means it will cost you more. These sites lure you in with great deals and charge your credit card many extra fees. Since it's unlikely you'll cause much trouble over $250 bucks you just have to deal with it. Mind you, they have good lawyers and are on the thin side of legal but there isn't much you can do.
So what can you do to avoid problems? How do you know who is reputable? First off, check out www.uspa.org for a list of actual skydiving facilities. 2nd, check www.dropzone.com This is an independent skydiver forum. The jumpers themselves comment on individual facilities.
